The White Nights Festival in Petersburg in Russia, is a festival of art, music and theater! This festival takes place from the end of May until the end of July. It is called White Nights because there is a lot of sunlight at this time of year, even at night!
At the festival there are performances of ballet and opera. There are carnivals, too!! People wear costumes and act out events from Russia’s history.
The most important event is the Scarlet Sails event. There’s a pirate battle o the River Neva and then a firework display. A big boat with big red sails comes up the river.
The White Nights Festival is an amazing sight and a very special night for everyone there!!!
