What is this book about?
The title of this book is “The Orange Girl”written by the Norwegian author Jostein Gaarder. He has studied Religion, Phyloshophy and Literature and he has written some novels ,short stories and children’s book.As a good author he has been awarded many times. This book is written in 2003 and adapted in a film in 2009.
George is the main character of the book.His father died when he was four years old, so George grows up without him. Many years later he finds some letters from him father, written just before his death. While reading the letters he understand that it’s not simply a story ,but it’s part of his father’s life, as he way younger. So one day his father traveling by a train took notice of a beautiful girl, holding a bag with oranges. Then accidentaly some oranges dispersed and he tried to collect them and give them buck to the girl. Unfortunately he realised that the girl had left the train.
The story is request for his son George to solve the mystery of the orange gir’s identity. After reading all his father’s letters. George realises that the “orange girl” is his mother and that she was so much loved by his father and how terrible was to find out that he was dying.

My Favourite part
In the last letter George’s father asks him a question. If he was given the choice to live and be very happy, but died young or not live at all. What would he choose? After that George knew that his father had live a short but very happy life.

Do you recommend this book?
It’s a very good story heartouching and tender. I recoment it, it’s realy worth to be read.
