3rd prize: <a href="https://www.npg.org.uk/hold-still/images/happe/“>https://www.npg.org.uk/hold-still/images/happe/

Entry summary:

1st photo: In this photo we can see a little girl looking at her dad behind a window. The girl, Mila, was ill, and her parents tried to protect her from COVID-19. Her dad had to go to work every day and her sister had to go to school, so they found a solution: to live in different houses. They would visit Mila every day at the window. At first Mila did not understand what was happening but at the end she accepted it. She was strong and patient and her mum was proud of her.

2nd photo: In this photo we can see two kids siting on the fence of their garden clapping for their mum and dad. Both kids are wearing their pyjamas because it is late in the evening. Their parents work in a hospital and they save people from COVID-19. They spend many hours away from their children and they return home late at night. During lockdown, many doctors and nurses had to work extremely hard and they had to “forget” even their children for many months. That is why all of us should be grateful to them.

3rd photo: In this photo we can see two doctors wearing masks with a smile on them. They worked hard all the week and they want to feel happy and make their patients and colleagues happy as well. Masks hide faces and emotions. When people wear them, they cannot communicate and exchange ideas. That’s why the doctors drew smiles on the masks, they wanted to show their feelings.

1st photo: I choose this photo because the girl misses her grandmum. The girl sleeps and listens to her grandmum’s story. The grandmum can’t come to the girl’s house because there is COVID-19 virus and she tells the story from a tablet. I miss my grandma too because I mustn’t visit her.
2nd photo: I choose this photo because the girl does her homework and she misses her grandmum. Usually, her grandmum helps her with her homework but her grandmum can’t help her now because there is covid 19. Last year my grandmum was helping me with my homework but this year she can’t come to my house. I miss her very much!

Entry summary:

1st photo: In this photo, we can see a baby who is trying to touch his grandma, from the other side, but there is a glass between them. It’s evident that this photo is referring to the pandemic due to covid-19 and to the lockdown. During the lockdown, we couldn’t see anyone because we were obliged to stay inside. When we were inside, because we were obliged, we didn’t feel free and as we all know the freedom goes hand in hand with happiness. That’s why the baby and the grandma in this photo are sad…
2nd photo: In this photo, we can see a dad making bread with his little boy. In this photo, the action that they are doing isn’t that important. The thought behind the action is what counts… The lockdown was, of course, difficult for everyone but if we think a little bit more about it, it was also a chance to spend some creative time with our family. This may be difficult for some children to happen before the lockdown because the parents were at work.
3rd photo: In this photo, we can see a catholic church and a priest but the difference in this photo is that the church is empty. There are no people, just the pictures of different people. During the lockdown, we couldn’t go to church. But although, I think that we have to go to the church because it’s very important in our life.

Entry summary:

Coronavirus disease was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan in China and till March 2020took dimensions of a pandemic with millions of cases and many deaths all over the world. The virus spreads through the air and the contamination of people is very high. Such as preventing, wearing a face mask, washing hands, self-isolation if there are symptoms of the disease.

Stay home, stay safe and protect others. The spread of Coronavirus is limited by social distancing and being at home. So people work, teach, get educated, shop, amuse themselves, communicate, exercise at home. This is “Antivirus”

But there are some people who can’t stay at home because their job is very important. They are the health care workers and these are the superheroes of our age. They help people recovering but at the same time, they get risks for themselves and their families. Many of them have lost their lives fighting against COVID-19

Entry summary:

1st prize:I choose this photo because of COVID-19 some parents can’t see their children. A daughter can’t see her father because he is in the hospital. She can only see him from a glass. They are talking from a device. They talk each other by glass. Doctors don’t allow to her to go to his room, hug him and talk with him normally. This is that hurt the most.
2nd prize :A grandma and a little boy are two people that show us we have to stay safe. They miss each other so much but they can’t be together. A grandma is kissing the boy’s hand from glass. The grandma for sure wants ro hug the boy and stau with him. They may have fun together. The grandma has COVID-19 and she has to stay away from her grandson.
3rd prize:This photo means so much. The care workers are doing an amazing job. This is the truth. A girl who cares for an elderly man, Jack, is an important person in the world. She isn’t famous or celebrity, she isn’t president but she is a compassionate person. With the lock down there can’t be family visits so the only visit Jack had was from her. This was that makes him happy.

3rd prize: https://www.npg.org.uk/hold-still/images/we-always-wear-a-smile/

Entry summary:

I chose this photo because during the coronavirus days I miss my grandparents, their warm hug, and their affection. I miss the smile that they had every time I visited them as well as their delicious foods. These difficult days I am very sad that I am away from them because, before the quarantine, I had them like a second family and I miss them a lot. Αnd these days we call them to tell our news. But it isn’t the same, it never was and never will be. So I waited for the day when I will be able to hug them and everything will be as before.
I chose this photo because, in all these difficult days, I feel sorry for the elderly people who spend the last years of their lives locked inside the house without having the freedom to go where they want. They feel imprisoned and alone without any company. And this happens because many people don’t feel them, don’t understand them, and circulate normally during these days, transmitting the virus to the elderly and putting them at risk. And that’s why I ask all people to feel these poor people who are spending their last years unhappy and scared.
I chose this photo because, I want to give a big ”thank you” to our heroes, to the nurses, who are making superhuman efforts to save people from this deadly virus. They spend whole days in the hospitals away from their families, putting the salvation of the people above their health. And even though they see so many unhappy things with their eyes, they are smiling because they know that they are helping to save a human. Again, they deserve something more than a ”thank you” for the battle that they give every day with the coronavirus.

I put the first photo because the child and his dad do sth together. They make bread. This is amazing because the child learns how to make bread. They enjoy and they do a creative hobby!

I put the second photo because it is so difficult to stay in a hospital but if sb looks after you it isn’t so bad.

I put the third photo because this child should have a friend to talk and say your interest. And now with the COVID-19 pandemic, we can talk with our friends with an online meeting in skype, in messenger and other. All people can hold our friends!

Entry summary:

I chose the first photo because I think that in these difficult days all the children miss their grandparents and their grandparents are really very difficult because usually when we see them we hug and talk to them up close but now we only talk on the phone about me this photo reminded me of the simple everyday days Before the lock down.

I chose the second photo because in this picture the nurse looks tired but never stops helping people who have cOVID-19.Personality I think that in this days these are the real heroes.

I chose the third photo because it reminded me of my favorite ballet activity which I stopped and I can not do an online lesson.

2nd prize: https://www.npg.org.uk/hold-still/images/rainbow/

3rd prize: https://www.npg.org.uk/hold-still/images/on-your-doorstep/

Entry summary:

I chose the first prize to go the photo with the Nurse. I feel that in these covid days, our medical staff around Greece are our silent heroes. We only get to hear about statistics in the news, things like “We had X number of covid cases in Greece today”, and we never hear about how much effort the doctors and nurses are giving to help fight this awful virus.

I chose the second photo because I am really impressed with the creativity of all the children staying at home in the crisis. Even though they are now going to school in the morning, in the afternoon they are mostly stuck at home.

I chose the last photo because I love how the good thing about this crisis is that a lot of families learnt to spend time together and have fun.
