Declining fertility and increasing longevity are some of the problems that are causing the elderly to rise throughout the world. This phenomenon has been increasing over the last century appearing other possible problems in a country. Just imagine the percentage of the young people versus that of the older people, if fewer young people are working than the elderly, then a country may not have a comfortable economic situation. Because there is an obligation from the government to maintain the old-age pension, so this means that others should work to pay these expenses. As the biggest users of the health and care services, many older people are feeling the outcome of growing demand in funding. Also, except for retirement, governments should do more things about helping the aging population. It should create a better health system, as fixing the hospitals and join up a health and care system that supports older people as far as possible in their own homes and local communities.

The aging population is an increasing median age in a population. This due to the increasing longevity and falling birth rates. Countries faced problems due to an aging population. For instance, a government study about social security funds and population age shows that the money raised is decreasing in contrast with the money spent is increasing. This means that the aging population creates financial problems in a lot of countries. One solution the government can take about population aging is a gradual retirement scheme allowing older individuals to lower their working hours yet remain in the workforce and pay taxes until a later age. As a result, people will work until an older age and the government won’t have to spend money for them for many years after the day it stops work.
