It is estimated that the total number of animals and plants on our planet ranges from 2 to 8 million.
About 1,500,000 species have been classified so far.
Unfortunately, however, thousands of them are threatened with extinction.
Some may disappear before we even discover them.
It is estimated that about 30,000 species become extinct each year!
There are three main reasons that lead species to extinction.
The first is the uncontrolled hunting they suffer.
The second is the destruction of their habitats, ie the area where they live, feed and grow.
The third is environmental pollution and climate change.
