Summary:
Theseus,the Duke of Athens,is planning a great festival to celebrate his wedding. Egeus arrives to complain about his daughter, Hermia.He wants her to marry Demetrius but she is in love with Lysander. Lysander and Hermia decide to run away to the forest and get married. They tell Helena , Hermia’s best friend, about their plan. Helena is in love with Demetrius and tells him the plan. Demetrius follows Lysander and Hermia into the forest and Helena follows him.
A group of part-time actors ‘eet in the forest to practise a play for the Duke’s wedding. One of the actor’s is Nick Bottom, who is a very foolish man.
Also in the forest are the fairy King, Oberon, his Queen, Titania, and Puck, Oberon’s mischievous helper. Oberon decides to play a trick on Titania, and playful Puck makes Nick Bottom look like a donkey. Oberon’s magic potion and Pucks mischief result in a night of confusion and misplaced love.
